José Tomás García Zapata, Maquinser · Mexico
J. Tomás G Zapata was General Director of Maquiser Industrial S.A. de C.V., a Mexican company focused on industrial services, maintenance and B2B solutions, where he led transformation processes, commercial expansion and operational improvement in sectors of high technical complexity. With a career spanning more than 18 years, he combined his background in electronic engineering with a solid strategic business vision backed by an MBA from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Automating isn't putting in a robot: it's eliminating unnecessary steps with logic.
He began his career in technical and precision manufacturing areas, working as a Process and Equipment Engineer at Hitachi, where he worked in advanced industrial environments. Later, at Sanmina, he was responsible for the full management of projects from NPI to mass production, including SMT and Top Level processes, as well as operating documentation and quality criteria.
Real efficiency lies in what goes unnoticed, not in what shines.
At General Motors he took on the role of Maintenance Supervisor, designing predictive maintenance routines and manufacturing support strategies, applying methodologies such as vibration analysis, thermography and the design of error-proofing tests. Later, at Pertek-Erler, he was Process Coordinator, leading manufacturability tests, robotic programming and tooling design based on Core Tools such as APQP, FMEA, SPC, PPAP and MSA.
During his time at Otis Elevator Company, he held key positions in the operational management of Mexico's Western region, leading initiatives in safety, business efficiency and the implementation of quality systems. At Armasel Aceros, as Engineering Manager, he focused on manufacturing engineering in the metalworking sector, applying advanced knowledge in automation, painting and robust industrial processes.
A good operational decision is not always the most visible one, but it is the most effective.
Between 2019 and 2023, he worked at TMS International LLC as Plant Operations Manager and later as Business Development Manager, in both Monterrey and Guadalajara, leading industrial plants and high-level commercial negotiations. His experience combined technical expertise with a solid capacity for commercial expansion, always with a focus on sustainable profitability and operational efficiency.
The best way to decide quickly is to have good information, not intuition.
In addition to his degree in communications and electronics engineering from the Universidad de Guadalajara, he holds a Master's in Process Optimization (MASI) and an MBA in Senior Management from ITESM, which gives him a comprehensive approach to decision-making in industrial environments. He has worked at both OEM companies and as an in-house vendor, in services and production, and in industries such as automotive, electronics, elevators and steel.
Mistakes teach, but slow decisions in manufacturing cost more.
Tomás is recognized for his adaptability, technical leadership, results orientation and a special ability to train and develop multidisciplinary work teams, including technicians, supervisors, engineers and managers. His leadership style is collaborative, focused on passing on knowledge and generating lasting impact in organizations.
